What is a free consumer?

A "Free Consumer" is the term given to all natural or legal persons who have the privilege of choosing their electricity supplier.

To become a free consumer, it is necessary to consume more electricity than the "Free Consumer Limit" published by the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA).

For 2025, the free consumer limit set by EMRA is 750 kWh per year.

What Do Retail Electricity Suppliers Do?

In brief, retail electricity suppliers like TEK Electricity purchase electricity either through bilateral agreements with energy producers or daily via EPİAŞ (Energy Markets Operation Company) Day-Ahead Market. They then sell this electricity to customers through the electrical grid network operated by Electricity Distribution Companies. The pricing of your electricity is determined by the agreements between the supplier and you, the valued consumer. Whenever you have questions about your electricity bills, we are here to provide solutions for every query.

There are four main types of companies with licenses in the electricity market: Electricity Distribution Companies (EDŞ), Authorized Electricity Supply Companies (GTŞ), Electricity Supply Companies, and Electricity Generation Companies. EDŞ and GTŞ often operate under the same group but are assigned different tasks as per EPDK (Energy Market Regulatory Authority) regulations. While Supply Companies and GTŞ can sell electricity to consumers, EDŞ cannot sell electricity; they are only responsible for distribution services (e.g., line maintenance, meter reading). The distribution fee on electricity bills essentially reflects this responsibility.

What is Cheap Electricity?

The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) announces "National Electricity Tariffs" generally four times a year, divided into quarters. These tariffs are priced based on the determined subscriber groups.

Energy Supply Companies provide offers for your electricity supply based on the competitive method, referencing the Market Clearing Price (MCP) while considering the tariffs set by EMRA.

Since MCP is a decisive factor, some offers can be made independently of tariffs, focusing on market-based prices with profit margins during certain periods.

If you apply to us, we will conduct the necessary analysis based on your consumption and tariff group information to provide you with the optimum offer.
